Power Bank – Advantages & Disadvantages
Power banks have become essential travel companions for nearly everyone these days. While phones have become smarter over time and have essentially become extensions of ourselves, the battery life on most smartphones can be very limiting. Thankfully we have power banks to help us get through the day without any issues.
Why should you use a power bank?
Power banks can be very useful even if you are someone who does not travel much. They allow you to keep your devices powered when you suffer power cuts to ensure you are able to stay in touch and communicate. They are also quite convenient and you can attach them to any USB port.
Modern day power banks also come with fast charging for newer devices, which means that you can get most of your battery recharged in a matter of minutes. You never have to worry about your battery percentage being low ever again with a power bank by your side.
Why shouldn’t you use a power bank?
Like all things, power banks have their disadvantages too. While these aren’t disadvantages that will steer you away from buying a power bank, there are limitations that you need to be aware of. One of the biggest disadvantages is, of course, the constantly draining battery. If you purchase a power bank and don’t plan on using it frequently don’t be surprised when you see that the battery percentage has slowly drained out due to not using it. You need to keep your power bank topped up to ensure you don’t have to run to a wall charger instead when out of battery life.
The second and only other limitation to using a power bank is the bulk. They can be quite hefty even though they are small. If you don’t have a carrying case, bag, or a backpack with you they can be an annoyance. Needless to say, power banks are not ideal for minimalistic travelers.
Despite the disadvantage, we believe that power banks definitely warrant the space in your bag wherever you go. After all, no one wants to be disconnected due to a smartphone battery running out.
